A Page in London’s Docks’ Regeneration Story

The tour tracks some of the network of channels and waterways dug out centuries ago to harbour London’s timber, whale blubber, grain etc. on this peninsula of the Thames. Despite dramatic architectural renovation, plenty of Rotherhithe’s seafaring and industrial history remains exposed.

The old village of Rotherhithe seems lost in time. Discover from where epoch-making voyages began, where ships and mediaeval palaces were built and where pioneering feats of Victorian engineering were born.
