Imagine the eastern quarter of the city that Dickens described. This tour passes through the enthralling area of Spitalfields, home to varied groups of immigrants. The area was once renowned for its dire poverty, where children grew up surrounded by squalor and vice. Dickens was all too familiar with the dreadful conditions that prevailed in the crowded slums.

We can still find remnants of old Docklands, where ships from all over the world once unloaded their goods into the vast warehouses, and areas associated with Bill Sykes, Nancy and Fagin.
