Multicultural London in a nutshell

Dalston’s transformation from scruffy north-east London suburb to “the coolest place to live in Britain” (Guardian 2009) has been amazingly rapid. Come and walk the mean/groovy streets. Once a strong Jewish area, Dalston now has a colourful African/Caribbean street market, Turkish shops and wonderful restaurants, the Vortex jazz club, cutting edge Arcola theatre and Grade II* listed Rio cinema, whose patron is Londoner Bob Hoskins. Beautiful churches include “the Cathedral of the East End”, admired by Sir John Betjeman, and the church where Clowns International hold their annual service. There is a community garden and even a Farm Shop, with mini 'aquaponic'  fish farms and rooftop chicken coops, next to the new apartment blocks with views to the City.
