Around one in three of all Londoners belong to an ethnic minority group. One in two black and Asian Britons is under 25.

Londoners include residents from over 90 countries who speak over 300 languages. Our multicultural tours tell how London's polyculture began and continues today, assimilating refugees who fled persecution and poverty and enriched Londoners' lives from the earliest Romans,Normans Hugenots and Jews.

In 1948 the "Windrush" brought around 500 migrant Jamaicans to the UK, encouraged to come to help rebuild post-war Britain.

Indians, Pakistanis and Bangladeshis came in the 1950-60s, followed by Vietnamese and East African Asians in the 1970s and Eastern Europeans from the 1980s until now.

The majority faithful built churches and synagogues but today London is also home to 40 Hindu temples, at least 25 Sikh temples, and about 150 mosques.
